Bessemer System FCU Scholarship Winners
So, you're buying a car. You've made it past the tedious comparison shopping, you've finished the detail oriented research and you've endured the haggling with the salesperson. You just gotta go in to see the finance manager, sign some papers, and you're on your way home. That feeling of relief washes over you, you let your guard down, and you don't even realize until it's too late that you're suddenly in a much higher monthly loan payment, a higher interest rate or a longer term than you planned for. What in the name of Lee Iacocca, just happened?
We have a few suggestions!
1. Keep your wits about you
2.Never let your guard down at the dealership
3. Know your credit score
4. Check with your financial institution for their rates and terms before you sit down and do the paperwork at the dealership...there is a good chance you may be missing out on better rates and terms. Easy doesn't mean better!
If you have any question, give us a call... We'd love to help!

Courtesy Pay Overdraft Protection
Most of us have found ourselves facing an occasional cash shortfall, be it the result of a checkbook error or an unexpected bill. If you have ever accidentally bounced a check, you already know that in addition to the embarrassment, you may also face merchant fees for the returned check along with the inconvenience of returning to the merchant to correct the error. And while a declined debit card does not create merchant fees, it can be an embarrassing experience.
Bessemer System FCU understands, which is why we offer Courtesy Pay. Courtesy Pay is a non-contractual overdraft protection service that requires no action on your part to enroll. There are no fees to have Courtesy Pay available on your share draft account. You only pay our standard NSF fee of $30 if you use Courtesy Pay to cover an insufficient item. With Courtesy Pay, instead of your check being returned or your debit card purchase being declined, we may pay or approve those items up to your overdraft limit of $500.
Courtesy Pay is automatically available to our share draft checking account holders for checks, automatic bill payments and other debit transactions. If you would like to have overdraft protection through Courtesy Pay for your ATM withdrawals and everyday debit card purchases, simply ask us to add Courtesy Pay protection for these types of transactions.
Courtesy Pay is one more way we can help you meet your unexpected financial needs.

Dormant Account Information
A members' account shall be considered dormant if no activity has taken place on the account for one year.
A dormant account notification will be included in the Credit Union newsletter annually. Members will be reminded to keep their account active by making a deposit, withdrawal, or transfer to their account. If they do not activate their account, they may incur a monthly dormant account fee. Any account that is dormant after three years, the balance in the account will automatically be escheated to the State of Pennsylvania Treasury.
Fees on all accounts shall be assessed at $2 per month after 12 months of inactivity. The fee shall continue monthly until the balance in the account is zero and the account is closed, or the account has been reactivated. If after three years there is still a balance, the monies remaining will be escheated to the state.
Exceptions are if the member has other accounts with the credit union i.e. IRS's, Certificates of Deposit, Loans, Visa account, Home Equity Loan,; or if the member is under 18 years of age.
The credit union will make the necessary attempts to contact members with dormant accounts before any funds are escheated to the state. This makes it essential that addresses and phone numbers on all accounts are current and up to date.
